Ever the eccentric, Schwarz at different points during his career had expressed interest in becoming a "space tourist" so when he signed for Sunderland later in his career, the club inserted a "space clause" into his contract stating that if he were to travel into space during his time at the club, his contract would be invalid and he'd be released from the club.

As wearing namesets on shirts became more common in the early 1990s, some teams took it to a new level and decided to employ different tactics. Given the blank space on the sleeves of this classic Umbro shirt, they decided to add numbers to each sleeve as well as the reverse of the shirt. Legendary Brazillian Rivaldo wore this design too!
As worn in a one off friendly game vs Manchester United in 1999. Taking place in the futuristic looking Hong Kong stadium, the European Champions dispatched South China with a 2-0 defeat. The two sides had previously met in 1997 too, with United winning 1-0. The South China connection remained strong enough for years to come, with Class of 92 star Nicky Butt joining the side in 2010, playing three games and scoring one goal.
Worn the season Johan Cruyff controversially joined the club from Ajax after some difficult contract negotiations and won the league and cup double in his final season as a player.
Worn in Denilson's first season with Los Verdiblancos as he made the move from Sao Paulo for a world record fee of £21.5 million. Unfortunately, despite his lofty price tag, the winger failed to make his mark at the club and Betis were actually relegated to the second tier in 2000. After a few more years with the club punctuated by a loan spell back to Flamengo, Denilson left the club in 2005 with fans wondering what could've been for the record breaking attacker.
As worn by the engimatic Italian striker when he famously top scored in the 1997-98 season with 32 league goals in 28 games. He also managed to score 23 league goals in his first 10 games in this season. However, Negri's scoring run was brought to an end by a injury to the retina in his eye which required surgery, attributed to a squash match with team mate Sergio Porrini. He would never recapture this goalscoring form post recovery and suffered further injuries which kept him out of action.
Even though PSG's outfield shirts were made by Nike during this season, the contracts for goalkeepers would be different, with keepers often wearing a different brand to the rest of their team, this is a classic example of this. There are several great shots of Bernard Lama wearing some interesting designs during the 1990s which were not made by Nike.
These wonderful leisure shirt/home shirt mash ups were a great touch from Puma, who covered designs for some other Atleti players alongside Kiko including Juninho. Perhaps a stolen idea from the great 1995 Barcelona Kappa designs with a very similar look.

Despite him being a legend of Turkish football (all time top goalscorer and legendary Galatasaray star) Sukur is now exiled from Turkey due to his association with certain political causes and his outspoken nature on social media towards the government. As a result of his exile Sukur moved to the United States, and for a brief amount of time was working as an Uber driver in New York. He's now received a green card to stay indefinitely and has set up a football school in California.
Despite some of the stars that the Premier League hosted in the early 00s, it was rumoured that mid-table Middlesbrough were paying Boksic over £63,000 per week, which made him the highest paid player in the league at the time. In order to secure a contract extension with the young keeper, Milan agreed to also sign Gianluigi's brother Antonio in order to sweeten the deal, agreed with infamous football agent Mino Raiola.
