My Atlético Mineiro Football Club Shirt Collection – Marcelo Andrade

Marcelo Andrade is an Atlético Mineiro fan who is from Belo Horizonte in Brazil, along with following ‘Galo’ he is an avid collector of their shirts and has amassed an impressive collection.

Why Atlético Mineiro shirts?

My father was a very passionate fan of Galo so it all started with him, I inherited that passion and still follow Mineiro and from this my love for their shirts led me to build up my own collection.

What was your first shirt?

The first piece of the collection was a 1991 Dellerba sponsored by Coca-Cola, it's a very iconic shirt!

What is your favourite shirt and why is it so special?

I may own a number of older and rarer pieces but I have a special affection with the 1992 Penalty Home shirt. It was a very striking shirt in my childhood and means a lot to me as that was the year that my father passed away. He was also a big Rooster fan.

What is the shirt you would like most in your collection?

I'm in love with the 90's shirts and these are the shirts that I always looks for. If I could only add one shirt to the collection then it would have to be the 1992 away. I’ve been hunting for that shirt for a long while and will continue to look for it until it’s in my wardrobe!

Do you have any other interesting stories?

In order to aide my search for the 1992 Away I created a twitter account to get in touch with fellow Atlético Mineiro fans and collectors (@camisasdogalo) it has taken off since and I use it to broadcast my collection and share it with others who are interested.
