A bolt from the blue

A striking two-tone blue design with bold lightning graphics that became a cult classic among Arsenal fans. Worn during the 1995–96 season, it marked the dawn of a new era at Highbury with Dennis Bergkamp’s arrival. Despite its controversy, with some joking the blue pattern and JVC sponsor looked like a fuzzy TV screen, it’s now remembered as an underrated gem of the ’90s. Inspiring new generations

The influence of the iconic 1995–96 lightning bolt lives on, with adidas often revisiting the design in modern kits. A standout tribute came with the 2021–22 Third Shirt. A predominantly navy base featuring a turquoise lightning graphic, white and red logos, and an electrifying all-over print that reimagined the original with a contemporary twist.
