Our Pick : Germany Home

The design of the adidas Germany 2026 home shirt pays homage to the nation's most iconic footballing moments and celebrates the 70-year partnership with adidas, set to end in 2027 with Nike taking over.

The shirt draws its inspiration from the legendary 1988-90 and 2014-15 World Cup winning shirts. This influence is most evident in the striking diamond shape and chevron detailing, which incorporates the black, red, and yellow accents from iconic previous designs. Blending modern aesthetics with a clear nod to the successful eras that defined German football history. The shirt also features a special hem tag to celebrate the more than 70-year-long partnership.

1988 West Germany Match Worn Euro 88 Home Shirt #2 (Buchwald)

This certified match worn shirt was worn by defender Guido Buchwald against Denmark during Euro 1988 group stage, a match that ended in a 2-0 victory for Germany.

Arguably one of the most iconic and impactful pieces of sportswear ever created, the shirt broke tradition with its bold inclusion of geometric flashes of colour inspired by the national flag. A daring design choice that represented a significant risk for adidas. Worn throughout Euro 1988 and later by the World Cup winning squad in 1990, the shirt helped define an era of German football and continues to inspire modern Germany kits.

This particular shirt is a rare piece of football heritage, representing both Euro 1988 and the early stages of the team’s journey to World Cup glory two years later.
