The 2021-22 campaign was a roller-coaster of soaring ambition and ultimate disappointment for Newport County, as The Exiles finished 11th in League Two. The season was defined by a managerial change from Michael Flynn to James Rowberry and an agonising late-season slump that saw a genuine play-off challenge evaporate. Despite falling short of promotion, the year was immortalised by the incredible form of striker Dom Telford, whose phenomenal 25 league goals earned him the League Two Golden Boot and saw him become the first County player since 1983-84 to surpass 20 goals.
