During this season both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments of the Liga MX were renamed "Torneo Guardianes" and "Torneo Guard1anes" to honor healthcare workers in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico. Los Xolos' form in both tournaments were disappointing as the side finished in 15th and 14th places respectively and missed out on the final phases of Liga MX
