The 2018-19 campaign delivered a season of two halves for FC Groningen, as The Pride of the North dramatically rebounded from a relegation battle to secure an 8th-place finish in the Eredivisie and a European play-off spot. Under debut manager Danny Buijs, the team built a phenomenal second-half defensive record to achieve this resurgence. Leading the attack was Mimoun Mahi, whose 8 goals proved vital in a campaign built on sheer grit and determination. It was a pivotal year that marked a new era and remains a defining chapter in the club's modern history, despite the play-off elimination by Vitesse.
