After winning La Liga, Barça were fighting for the treble but were shockingly edged out by Liverpool in the Champions League Semi-Finals and lost out in the Copa del Rey Final to Valencia. Ter Stegen was the club's first choice with Cillessen playing the Copa del Rey.
