The 2016-17 campaign was a season defined by a spectacular cup run and solid league consolidation for Macclesfield Town. While The Silkmen secured a respectable 9th-place finish in the National League, the true highlight was their thrilling journey to the FA Trophy Final at Wembley. Led by the decisive 13 goals of Chris Holroyd, the team marched all the way to the national stadium, where they were narrowly defeated 3-2 by York City. It was a proud year that re-established Macclesfield's standing and provided the faithful Silkmen supporters with an unforgettable day out.
