The 2015-16 campaign was a turbulent year for Bordeaux, with Les Girondins ultimately finishing 11th in Ligue 1, a result achieved under the guidance of two managers, as Willy Sagnol was replaced by club legend Ulrich Ramé mid-season. Leading the charge on the pitch was the powerful Malian striker Cheick Diabaté, whose 10 goals in the league proved vital in an inconsistent season. The club also enjoyed a memorable cup run to the Semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue, even as their European adventure ended in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League, making it a transitional year for the club.
