The 2014-15 campaign delivered an exhilarating promotion charge for Ipswich Town, with The Tractor Boys surging to a spectacular 6th-place finish in the Championship under manager Mick McCarthy, their best league position in two decades, securing a coveted play-off spot. Spearheading this dreamlike season was the prolific veteran striker Daryl Murphy, whose career-best 27 league goals earned him the Championship Golden Boot and PFA Team of the Year honours. Although the dream ended in heartbreak with a 4-2 aggregate semi-final defeat to fierce rivals Norwich City in a defining 'East Anglia Derby', Murphy's imperious form and the team's relentless effort secured a memorable chapter for the Portman Road faithful.
