In the round of they drew French side Monaco who shocked them in a humbling home defeat by three goals to one. Despite an impressive 2-0 away victory in the return leg, Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League on away goals. Szczęsny battled with David Ospina for number one spot this season with both keepers struggling for constant back to back starts.
