The 2012-13 campaign was a season of consolidation and resilience for Birmingham City as The Blues, under the guidance of manager Lee Clark and navigating a strict transfer embargo amidst financial turmoil, battled their way to a respectable 12th-place finish in the Championship. Leading the line was veteran forward Marlon King, whose 13 league goals anchored the attack, including a memorable hat-trick at Millwall to secure a dramatic 3-3 comeback draw after being three goals down. It was a vital year of stability for the club, which also saw young goalkeeper Jack Butland play every minute of the league season.
