Away shirt as worn in a season that saw the club spend big in the summer transfer window in an attempt to gain promotion back to the Premier League. However, an inconsistent start saw manager Sven-Göran Eriksson sacked after a 3–0 defeat at home to struggling Miilwall which left the Foxes sitting in 13th position after 13 games. After days of negotiations, former manager Nigel Pearson was finally re-appointed as manager in November 2011. Leicester would continue their inconsistent form under the new manager and sat mid-table for virtually the entire season before eventually finishing in 9th place.
