The 2011-12 campaign delivered a turbulent but successful fight for survival for Casteddu as they secured a 15th-place finish in Serie A. Despite the mid-season sacking of manager Massimo Ficcadenti in November by the unstable presidency of Massimo Cellino, the team battled on, largely thanks to the crucial attacking output of Mauricio Pinilla, whose 8 goals led the side's scoring charts. With veteran captain Daniele Conti orchestrating the midfield alongside the emerging talent of Radja Nainggolan, it was a season defined by determined resilience that ultimately ensured their continuous stay in the top flight.
