Goalkeeper shirt as worn by Čech in the season when the side finished runners-up in the Premier League, this was to be Carlo Ancelotti's last year as manager. During pre-season training, Čech reaggravated a calf injury and scans revealed a muscle tear that sidelined him for the next three weeks, including Chelsea's 3–1 loss to Manchester United in the Community Shield. In March, Čech made his 300th Chelsea appearance, against Premier League side Blackpool, which Chelsea went on to win 3–1. In May, Čech was awarded the Chelsea Player of the Year for the first time, featuring a total of 50 times across all competitions
