The 2009-10 campaign delivered a crucial year of stabilization for Hereford United as The Whites, following relegation, secured a 16th-place finish in League Two under the stabilizing hand of returning club legend Graham Turner. The season was truly defined by the breakout performance of left winger Marc Pugh, whose 13 goals anchored the attack and showcased his immense talent to the Edgar Street faithful. Despite an early exit from the League Cup, the club made a memorable run to the Southern Section Semi-Finals of the Football League Trophy. It was a pivotal, though often turbulent, year that marked the emergence of Pugh as a star player and ensured the club's immediate future in the professional ranks.. The 2010-11 campaign was a dramatic, tumultuous battle for survival for Hereford United as The Whites finished a precarious 21st in League Two, narrowly avoiding relegation after a crucial 3-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player. The season was defined by off-pitch turmoil, including the mid-season sacking of manager Simon Davey and the subsequent appointment of Jamie Pitman, and a desperate fight to cling onto their Football League status, which was secured on the penultimate weekend. Leading the charge was the clinical striker Stuart Fleetwood, whose 14 league goals (18 overall) proved vital to their survival efforts in a tense, unforgettable chapter of the club's modern history.
