The 2009-10 campaign delivered a historic achievement for Getafe, as the Azulones, led by manager Míchel, soared to a spectacular 6th-place finish in La Liga. This remarkable position marked the club's highest-ever finish in the Spanish top flight at the time, securing a coveted spot in the UEFA Europa League for the following season.
