Home shirt as worn at the 2009 Confederations Cup where the side surprised everyone with their performances. In the semifinals, the USA beat Spain 2–0 who, at the time, were at the top the FIFA World Rankings and on a run of 35 games undefeated. With that win, they advanced to their first-ever final in a men's FIFA tournament, where they would ultimately come unstuck against Brazil - losing 3–2 after leading 2–0 at half time.
