The 2007-08 campaign delivered a successful and highly credible return to the Italian elite for Genoa as The Griffins secured a respectable 10th-place finish in Serie A in their first season back after an eleven-year absence. Leading the charge was the re-signed striker Marco Borriello, whose career-best 19 league goals, including a hat-trick against Udinese, proved decisive in establishing the newly-promoted side. Under the guidance of manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the season was a triumph of consolidation that re-established Genoa's status and remains a defining chapter in the club's modern history.
