Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been issued to Speed for a match against Manchester City in the 2007-08 season. Speed was an unused substitute in both the League Cup Round of 16 tie at the Reebok Stadium and in the Premier League game at the City of Manchester Stadium while he was no longer with the club for the return fixture. Both games ended in defeat for Wanderers, 1-0 in the cup and 4-2 in the league. Speed had become a fan's favourite in his previous 3 seasons with the club and in this campaign he set a record in August '07 of being the only player to score in every season of the Premier League, something which only Ryan Giggs surpassed. The experienced midfielder made 17 appearances in this his last season with The Trotters before joining Sheffield United on loan in January '08, a move he made permanent in the summer. At international level Speed had captained Wales and become the country's most capped outfield player while on the domestic scene he left a legacy of 840 appearances, with only David James and Ryan Giggs playing in more Premier League matches. Speed became Wales manager in 2010 and started to lay the foundations which would see fruition only after his very sad and untimely death as The Dragons ended their long wait for a major international tournament appearance at Euro 2016
