The 2005-06 campaign was a season of exhilarating cup glory and mid-table consolidation for Real Zaragoza. Los Maños secured an 11th-place finish in La Liga, but the year was defined by a spectacular run to the Copa del Rey Final, where they finished as runners-up. Spearheading the charge was the newly-signed Argentine striker Diego Milito, whose phenomenal 21 goals across all competitions, including 15 in the league, quickly cemented him as a fan favorite. This year, under manager Víctor Muñoz, delivered moments of unforgettable excitement in the cup and marked the beginning of Milito's prolific era at the club.
