Inter finished 14 points adrift of runaway leaders Juventus in Serie A but did manage to add some silverware thanks to a 3-0 aggregate win over Roma in the Coppa Italia Final, winning 2-0 in Rome thanks to two goals from top scorer Adriano, with Siniša Mihajlović scoring the only goal between the sides in the return leg at the San Siro.
