The 2004-05 campaign saw FC Twente, "The Tukkers," deliver a strong showing in the Eredivisie, securing a respectable 6th-place finish as they firmly established themselves in the league's top half. Leading the charge was the powerful centre-forward Blaise Nkufo, whose 16 league goals proved vital in a season built on ambition and a concerted drive for European football. This year under manager Rini Coolen proved to be a pivotal chapter, laying the groundwork for the future success that would see Nkufo become the club's all-time top scorer and later captain them to their historic first-ever Eredivisie title.
