The 2004-05 campaign for Colchester United delivered a mid-table finish as The U's secured 15th place in the inaugural League One season, ultimately suffering from a prolonged mid-season slump despite a blistering start that saw them briefly top the table. Leading the league scoring charts was Neil Danns with 11 goals, providing the vital attacking spark for manager Phil Parkinson's side.
