Notes - Home shirt as worn when the Gers won the SPL title on the last day of the 2004-05 season under boss Alex McLeish, known as the infamous Helicopter Sunday. Arch rivals Celtic were top of the table and looked to be cruising to a 1-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park to seal the trophy. Whilst Rangers faced 3rd placed Hibs knowing that even a win wouldn't see them lift the title, they had to rely on the miracle of Celtic dropping points. That miracle came in the unlikely form of Scott McDonald. The Motherwell striker scored twice in the final 3 minutes to give the Steelmen a 2-1 win and hand Rangers the SPL trophy that had been circling above Fir Park in a Helicopter in anticipation of a Celtic victory. The pilot changed course for Easter Road where Rangers had held on to beat Hibs 1-0 and promted those famous words from commentator Peter Martin 'The Helicopter is changing direction'.
