Home shirt as worn by the Three Lions during Euro 2004 in Portugal. After two late goals from Zinedine Zidane in a narrow 2-1 defeat in the first game of the Group stage, England were left dejected. Their fortunes quickly turned around, however, with convincing victories against Switzerland and Croatia in their remaining group games. 4 goals from an in-form Wayne Rooney saw England in good shape to face hosts Portugal in the Quarter-finals. An instinctive finish from Michael Owen set England up for a first Semi-final in 14 years, but Helder Postiga's late header saw the game head to extra time with another two goals from Rui Costa and Frank Lampard taking the tie to penalties. There was yet to be more heartbreak from the spot for the Three Lions as Darius Vassell's spot kick was saved by a gloveless Ricardo to send the hosts through.
