Player - Experienced Danish international defender Martin Laursen #24
Features
Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Laursen for the Friendly match against Barcelona, played at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington D.C. on 30th July 2003. The sides were meeting as part of the ChampionsWorld Series and Barca came into the game on the back of a shootout victory over Milan's Serie A rivals in Massachusetts. Goals from Queresma and Ronaldinho saw the Catalan giants run out 2-0 winners over the Rossoneri here in the American capital. Laursen started on the bench but came on for Maldini at half time as both sides made mass changes throughout the 90'. The Dane was entering his 3rd season with Milan having joined them from Hellas Verona initially on loan in 2001. He went on to feature 19 times in all competitions this year as AC stormed to the Serie A title finishing 11 points clear of runners-up Roma. He had already won a Coppa Italia and Champions League double with the Diavolo in 2002-03 and opted to leave Italy at the end of the season for Premier League side Aston Villa in a £3 million deal. He continued to feature for the Danish national side this season and won 53 caps in total for his country appearing at two major international tournaments.
