The 2002-03 campaign for Borussia Dortmund was a season of high drama and European near-misses, ultimately seeing Die Schwarzgelben finish a competitive 3rd in the Bundesliga under manager Matthias Sammer, securing a spot in Champions League qualifying. Leading the charge was the towering Czech striker Jan Koller, whose 13 goals were vital for the side. The season is immortalized by Koller's bizarre yet heroic performance in goal against rivals Bayern Munich, where he famously kept a clean sheet for the final 23 minutes after an in-game keeper dismissal. Despite a tough European run, the team delivered high-drama moments that are fondly remembered by Die Schwarzgelben faithful.
