Player - Talented Coventry City stopper Chris Kirkland #1
Features
Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Kirkland during an U21's international friendly match against Mexico, played at Filbert Street on 23rd May 2001. Howard Wilkinson's men ran out 3-0 winners in this one thanks to goals from Malcolm Christie, Jermain Defoe and Jay Bothroyd. Kirkland, who was making his full international debut, came away with a clean sheet and notably saved a powerful header from Rafael Marquez early on. The keeper won eight caps for the U21 side between 2001 and 2003 before making his senior debut against Greece in 2006. Kirkland began his career at Coventry before making his £6 million move to Liverpool in the summer of 2001.
