Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have worn by Montella in the UEFA Cup Fourth Round 2nd leg match against Liverpool played at Anfield on the 22nd February 2002. The 1st leg at the Olimpico was the first meeting of the two clubs since the 1984 European Cup Final and unfortunately for Roma it also ended in defeat. Liverpool's star striker Michael Owen bagged a second half double to wrap up a 2-0 victory for the visitors. The Giallorossi won 1-0 at Anfield in the return leg when this white away kit was worn but the damage was done here in Rome sadly. But Fabio Capello's men did not dwell on the European exit and went on to win the Scudetto this season for the first time since 1983. Montella played 78 minutes before being replaced by Balbo and scored 15 goals in 38 appearances in all the competitions, 8 of those in the UEFA Cup. This was the first season that Roma wore this revolutionary Kappa 'Kombat' design that is fondly remembered as one of the greatest shirts of all-time.
