Rare third shirt as worn in Zdeněk Zeman's last season in charge at the club after a 5th place finish in Serie A and a Quarter-Final exit in the UEFA Cup meant he was replaced by Fabio Capello. Totti was beginning to make a name for himself under Zdeněk Zeman, Er Bimbo de Oro was moved into what became his infamous trequartista role ahead of the 1998/99 season. This led to Totti having his greatest season so far finishing with 16 goals in all competitions
