Player - Tough tackling Sturm Graz midfielder Gilbert Prilasnig #11
Features
Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Prilasnig for the 1998 World Cup Qualifying UEFA Group 4 match against Sweden, played at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna on 6th September 1997. The Burschen had run out 1-0 winners in Stockholm the previous year after an early Andreas Herzog goal. The Werder Bremen star was the difference again here as Austria claimed another 1-0 victory thanks to the striker's stunning swirling shot from distance. A bad tempered game saw the hosts finish with just 9 men after Anton Pfeffer and Goalkeeper Michael Konsel were given their marching orders. Prilasnig played the full match and featured in 4 of Austria's 10 qualifiers as they topped Group 4 ahead of Scotland and Sweden to book their spot at France '98. The Sturm Graz defender won 16 caps in total for his country between 1997-00 but missed out on a spot at the World Cup Finals the following summer.
