Notes
Rare original (1997) version of the classic design home shirt as worn in one of the most infamous moments in Premiership history, the Di Canio push on referee Paul Alcock after being sent off against Arsenal. In the manner of a slapstick comedy, Alcock went crashing to the ground as if someone had a whipped a chair from underneath him. An eventual FA hearing failed to see the funny side as Di Canio was fined £10,000 and banned for 11 matches. The Owls went on to recover and finish 12th in the Premiership, whilst the firey Italian gained redemption 18 months later for stopping play and denying himself a certain goal having spotted Everton’s goalkeeper Paul Gerrard injured by the touchline. The Premier League hadn’t seen his like before and hasn’t since
