Meijer joined the action as a 56th minute substitute for Jan Heintze as the boss went attacking following the red card. This was one-time capped forward's second season at the club after signing from Uerdingen and he bagged 9 goals in total as Bayer challenged for the Bundesliga title, finishing 3rd place and also reaching the Champions League Quarter Finals. The striker later played for Liverpool in the Premier League
