The sides were playing as part of the 1995 United Bank Challenge in South Africa and met in the 3rd place playoff match. Despite multiple good chances for both teams the match went to a shootout where the Portuguese side eventually triumphed 6-5. The Eagles wore this classic design when they finished 2nd in the Primeira Liga under boss Mário Wilson with João Pinto bagging 18 league goals.
