The 1991-92 campaign was a turbulent and transitional season for Fiorentina as La Viola ultimately finished in a disappointing 12th place in Serie A. The year's defining moment was the arrival of the legendary Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta, whose 13 league goals immediately anchored the attack and heralded the start of his iconic nine-year career in Florence. Amid managerial instability, which saw Sebastião Lazaroni replaced by Luigi Radice, the season remains memorable for establishing "Batigol" as a cult hero and laying the groundwork for the future era of ambition.
