The 1991-92 campaign was a season of soaring hope and late-season deflation for Chelsea, as The Blues competed in the final season of the Football League First Division before the Premier League launch. Under manager Ian Porterfield, they mounted a strong challenge, sitting 6th in February with a European spot in sight, but a subsequent slump saw them finish 14th.
