The side did go on to lift the Zenith Data Systems Cup with a 4-1 win over Everton in the final after Extra-time after an Ian Wright inspired performance. Shaw stayed with the London based side until 1995 when he joined Coventry city after making well over 200 appearances for Palace, he enjoyed a lengthy spell with the Sky Blues becoming somewhat of a legend at Highfield Road and later enjoyed a spell with Millwall in 2008.
