Notes - Ultra rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Thompson for the 1976 UEFA European Under-23 Championship Quarter-Final 1st Leg against Hungary, played at Népstadion in Budapest on 10th March 1976. The Young Lions fell to a 3-0 defeat here in the Hungarian capital with Thompson playing the full match. England won the 2nd Leg 3-1 but it wasn't enough to progress to the Semi-Finals. Thompson went on to win an impressive 42 senior caps in total for his country between 1976-82 and featured at two major international tournaments. At club level he was a Liverpool legend winning 7 top flight titles with the Reds as well as 3 European Cups during his time at Anfield before joining Sheffield United 1984.
