During this season the Red Devils seemed destined for another season of failing to challenge for European football, before the January acquisition of talismanic Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes turned their season around. Old Trafford witnessed a revitalised attacking flair for the second half of the campaign not seen since the glory days of Sir Alex Ferguson, with dangerous forwards Rashford, Greenwood and Martial carrying United to a 3rd place finish and giving cause for optimism for a return to title contention in years to come
