Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Downing in the Premier League match against Sunderland, played at the Stadium of Light on 21st August 2016. The grudge match between these two North East rivals got off to a great start for Boro with a superb goal from Cristhian Stuani in the opening 15 minutes. The Argentine scored his second of the game just before the break and though The Black Cats hit back in the second half they couldn't find an equaliser. Downing played the full match, The Riverside native was in his second season back with the club and made 34 appearances in a difficult Premeir League campaign for Boro as they finished 19th picking up 5 wins. The midfielder had previously starred for the club between 2001-09 helping them to the Carling Cup in 2004 and UEFA Cup final in 2006. He returned after spells with Aston Villa, Liverpool and West Ham.
