This was the Spaniard's first season at the Emirates after joining the Gunners in August from Everton. He made 38 appearances in all competitions netting 6 goals as Arsenal finished a distant 3rd in the League. The former Rangers man notably scored in wins over Blackburn, Wigan and Manchester City as well as cracking free kick against Aston Villa. He later went on to manage the club in 2019 when he replaced Unai Emery.
