The Bulgarian outfit had come so close to holding the Dutch giants and former European champions to a 0-0 draw in Eindhoven before Dirk Marcellis struck in the third minute of added on time. The side had defeated Iskra-Stal to reach this stage after finishing 3rd place in the 08-09 A Group. The Моряците were edged out by another 1-0 defeat here in Varna though to exit the competition at this penultimate qualifying round. Georgiev started the match but was substituted after 48 minutes for striker Zdravko Lazarov with the going gung-ho for a way back into the tie
