Fan tee released in the season when Gordon Strachan guided the side to their third consecutive SPL title. It was a dramatic end of season turn around for the Hoops who were seven points adrift of old firm rivals Rangers in early April, however, a run of seven straight victories, including two over the Gers was enough to ensure that the title would be returning to Celtic Park. In the Champions League there were impressive wins over AC Milan and Benfica before ultimately being knocked out 4-2 on aggregate by a star-studded Barcelona side. Scott McDonald ended the season as top scorer for the Bhoys with a tally of 31 goals in all competitions
