Notes - Extremely rare player shirt believed to have been issued to Wright-Phillips for the friendly match against Uruguay, played at Anfield on 1st March 2006. This was the first meeting between the sides since 0-0 friendly draw way back in 1995 and it was the visitors who got off the the better start. Omar Pouso scored an absolute stunner after a corner was only half cleared by England, the Peñarol man hitting a sweet volley first time to beat Paul Robinson from distance. The Three Lions didn't get on the scoresheet until 75 minutes when a towering Peter Crouch header leveled things up. Things got better for the hosts just before the final whistle with Joe Cole latching on to Wright-Phillips' cross to win it in the dying seconds. Wright-Phillips himself started on the bench before coming on for David Beckham on 64 minutes. The former Man City man had earned his first cap back in 2004 and won 36 in total for his country netting 6 goals. At club level he won the Premier League with Chelsea this year and the FA Cup the following season before later having spells with QPR and New York Red Bulls. The winger wore long-sleeves in the game and this is believed to have been a spare prepared to match specifications ahead of the fixture.
