Notes - Top range Diadora Maximus boots released in 2006 ahead of the World Cup in Germany and famously worn by Italian legend Francesco Totti. These special boots are made with a soft 'K' leather and TPU composite upper which is designed to offer soft touch and durable performance. This model uses an off-centre lacing system that is hidden beneath a cover to allow for a cleaner strike zone and ridged stitching for improved traction. A fold-over tongue is also included which is a classic component of many Diadora boots during this particular era. The rear of this model uses a cross-stitched fibre for increased strength and to minimize weight at the back of the boot, along with an external heel counter for added protection. 'Axeler' technology is incorporated into the outsole which allows for increased flexion, designed to bend with the foot and deliver optimal performance from the 14 stud moulded studs on firm ground surfaces. This blue and colourway was one of two colourways used by Totti at the competition that summer, with this one featuring against Ghana in the group stages. The forward would play a key role as the Azzurri went on to triumph on penalties against France in the final and lift their fourth World Cup.
