Notes - Rare player shirt believed to have been issued to or worn by Vogel during the qualification for the 2006 World Cup. The side finished runners-up in Group 4, ahead of Israel due to a better goal difference, after both sides had won 4 and draw 6 of their 10 qualifying matches. This then saw the Swiss in a play-off tie with Turkey, which they narrowly won on away goals after it finished 4-4 on aggregate. Vogel had recently been named captain, after winning his first cap in 1995 against Greece, and his led the side to their first World Cup since 1994. The PSV midfielder was crucial in linking defence to attack, whilst also breaking up opposition play. In Germany the side reached the Round of 16, notably topping Group G ahead of former winners France, before losing out on penalties to Ukraine. Vogel made 94 appearances for Switzerland, scoring twice, before retiring in 2007. His club career included the likes of Grasshoppers, PSV and AC Milan.
