Notes - Away shirt as worn by Shearer in the run to the UEFA Cup Quarter Finals in boss Graeme Souness's first campaign in charge. Having announced his desire to retire at the end of the season Shearer experienced one of his least productive seasons in front of goal after struggling to gel with newly-signed Patrick Kluivert, later reversing his decision as he opted to extend his career for another campaign
