Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been issued to or worn by Thompson during the 2003-04 season. The midfielder struggled with injury this season and made 14 appearances in all competitions helping Rovers to a 15th place finish in the Premiership scoring a goal in the 5-1 thumping of League new boys Wolves at Ewood on the opening day of the season. The former Liverpool man had joined Blackburn from Coventry City the previous season and stayed with Rovers until 2006 when he joined Lancashire rivals Wigan Athletic after making over 80 appearances for the Blue and Whites. Thompson continued to struggle with injury later on his career and later had spells with Portsmouth and Bolton Wanderers before ultimately being forced into a somewhat early retirement in 2007 after making over 200 appearances in the English top flight.
